Jean Ponce, professeur et directeur du département informatique de l’Ecole Normale Supérieure, est à la tête de l’équipe Willow, commune à Inria Rocquencourt, l’ENS Paris et le CNRS, qui s’intéresse aux aspects tridimensionnels de la vision artificielle, à la reconnaissance visuelle, à l'interprétation automatisée des flux vidéo, et à un traitement de l'image "intelligent" à partir de méthodes venues de la vision artificielle, de l'apprentissage statistique et du traitement de signal.

Abstract: This presentation introduces new techniques for image matching using bottom-up region proposals, together with local and global geometric consistency constraints, and discusses their application to two problems: the fully unsupervised discovery of the "topological" structure of image and video datasets, using matching as a proxy for supervision in object discovery tasks; and the computation of dense scene flow, warping images of similar but different objects onto one another. Extensive comparative experiments with both standard and new benchmarks demonstrate the promise of the proposed approach.
