Communication 2: Use of ChatGPT by FFL Students
The recent advent of conversational agents based on generative AI raises questions about the transformation of language learning practices. This study was conducted within the department of FLE (French as a Foreign Language Department) at the University of Lorraine in order to provide an overview of current practices among students. To that end, we first conducted a survey to explore the extent of ChatGPT use in the department. In a second phase of the research, we carried out a series of interviews with ChatGPT users to establish the ways in which these tools can support language learning.
