Teacher Training Workshop in Nancy 11-14 June 2024
Communication 3 : AI & AG tools : innovative repercussions and potentials
We cannot be fooled by the fact that the issue of artificial intelligence (AI) in education has already become cliché. It is not a passing fad; it is here to stay. Research shows AI rapidly expanding into education but also highlights educators' concerns about leveraging AI's pedagogical benefits and about its ramifications for higher education. Our aim as educationalists is ideally to improve and enhance the educational process and not replace human teachers with humanoid robots. Therefore, creating accessible, scalable, and cost-effective educational models for every student may be possible by uniting the two potent forces of digital support and skilled, compassionate teachers. The question of the incorporation of AI does not revolve around why or when anymore but rather… how?
Jane MAHONEY : Having come full circle first as an English teacher in the American university system, then as a certified MS consultant and certified digital forensics analyst, I am now in the Netherlands as a university English teacher again. My interest in the digital world is still piqued with several years of researching and experimenting with artificial intelligence and helping teachers understand how generative and non-generative AI tools could work for their students. As the innovations and practices keep changing, adaptations and adjustments are inevitable so long as teachers have enough information to make the AI decisions responsibly.
