Studying natural analogues is a powerful method for assessing very long-term issues in nuclear waste
management. The geological systems which more or less mimic planned nuclear waste repository can give us direct information on the behavior and evolution of radioactive materials buried for a very long time. This approach is specially efficient for designing new waste forms, and for studying the effect of long-term radioactive decay on solid materials.
