The National Research Program SPIN (PEPR) is an exploratory program within the framework of the #France2030 investment plan. Its objective is to develop a new generation of components for a more energy-efficient, agile, and sustainable digital world. With funding of €38 million over eight years, the SPIN Research Program aims to support a new wave of innovation in spintronics.
Co-led by the CEA and the CNRS, the program seeks to tackle a range of scientific challenges, strengthen a national network for the development of innovative materials, and promote interdisciplinary and cutting-edge research.
Spintronics is a field at the crossroads of physics and electronics, already used in many sectors. Discovered by French physicist Albert Fert and his German counterpart Peter Grünberg, this discipline continues to evolve, with the main goal of reducing the energy consumption of technologies. The PEPR SPIN programme involves researchers from the Institut Jean Lamour (CNRS–Université de Lorraine).
